Career Detail
First Bus UK – Mechanical Engineer (including apprenticeship)
Sept 2006 – Apr 2012
I started with First Bus UK when I left school at the age of 16; I completed my apprenticeship which gave me the skills and experience to become a fully skilled engineer. I worked within a team of 15 other engineers ensuring vehicles were maintained to the correct standards. I achieved this with the relevant training on specific vehicle types using basic and technical diagnostic equipment to carry out repairs. Although I wasn’t officially put through any other skillset I could carry out electrical repairs and vehicle body work.

Apr 2012 – Dec 2014
Working within a busy workshop and directly responsible for a team of engineers, service delivery assistants and cleaning staff, I have to ensure all my staff are complying to all company and law health and safety regulations while trying to provide a timely and reliable service. I have to work within set budgets set by senior management and ensure we are achieving are set KPI’s.
First Bus UK – Interim Engineering Manager
Jan 2014 – Apr 2014
Was approached by senior management in the Essex area to work on a three month secondment basis to give assistance in one of their depots which was slightly under performing. I was directly responsible for the running of the depot in respect to the compliance of the vehicles, the appearance and the cleanliness, while staying within company budgets and working to company KPI’s

Jan 2015 – Dec 2015
As an AEM the main role is to assist the engineering manager in all matters affecting the day to day running of the engineering operation in a London bus garage and deputise for him in his absence. This would include working closely with the operating management team and general manager to maximise mileage performance and to improve quality while maintaining the budget set by senior management. It also involves motivating and managing the workforce at the location to promote excellent standards while complying to all health and safety regulations set out by the law and the company.
