Covering Letter

Dear Sir / Madam

Thank you for taking time to look at this covering letter and C.V.

I am writing this to you as I am looking for a driving position within your company

I am a newly Qualified HGV Class 2 driver (December 2020) but I have over 28 years experience of driving all sizes of PCV vehicles from Minibus to 100 seat double decker coaches to 16 meter Tri Axle buses and 20+ years as 7.5 ton driver  all as a self-employed coach driver covering all aspects of the PCV industry .

At the beginning of 2020 my diary was full right up to the end of tDecember  doing many types of work from school contacts to holiday excursions throughout the year and lots of things in between. Then March happened and work dropped off (Understandable)  So while I was on lockdown decided to expand my driving services and looked at getting my HGV class 2 ( and Class 1 in 2021) But with COVID 19 the testing centres were closed so it took me until December to pass all tests

Why am I writing to you and not working through a transport agency? Well whenever I have contacted them via the internet mostly, firstly they don’t contact you back or only send you links to non related jobs and if they do contact you ask you all the same question they have already asked on the website then they say they have something that would suit me but do not contact you again.

As I said before being self-employed for 29 years  I have been able to find all the work I have done via a letter or flyer to companies in my area and then talking to the company direct so we both know what we are getting into.

So what I am looking from you is a chance to prove that I am willing to learn the lorry/truck industry the correct way from the beginning and not through an agency.

Then if you have a vacancy in my area for a professional driver ( within 20-30 miles from NN100JB)  I would be very happy to meet up with your representative to see if we can move this further along, I am happy to consider temporary or permanent position for the right company on PAYE or Self Employed (Not LTD)
