Davis Agri Plant (DAP HIRE), established in 1979 provides Plant and Equipment on a self-drive hire basis to the Construction and Agriculture sectors within a 50 Mile radius of our depot in the Southern Cotswolds in Tormarton

The company is and always has been family owned. Its ethos is one of team work and everyone pulling together and taking on any challenge or task as required. We have lorry drivers that double up as Plant Technicians/Fitters/Jet Washers and Plant Fitters Vice Versa. We believe variety of work is the spice of life and this has served us very well over the years with an extremely low staff turnover. Once we find the right employees, they tend to stay with us for years and years

We have a new requirement for an additional Plant Haulage HGV Driver. Most of the successful candidates time will be spent on the road, delivering and collecting a large variety of machinery to our friendly customer base built up over 40 years of business. Some of the employees time (when there are no transport duties) will be spent at the depot and this can include a range of work tasks from assisting our Plant Fitters with PDI (Pre Delivery Inspections) to Jet Washing machinery that has arrived back from hire.

We seek an individual who is ready to ‘hit the ground running’ and has proven Plant Haulage experience. Ideally we also seek someone with a fair level of Mechanical knowledge – as this can be helpful when out on the road and faced with issues that require some ‘thinking outside of the box’.

Job description

This is an extremely rare opportunity (We are a small family business) for an experienced Plant Haulage operative to join our small friendly team, based at our Plant Yard in the tranquil Southern Cotswold countryside of Tormarton at Lower Lapdown Farm

A broad range of time served experience in Plant Hire would be ideal and a good knowledge of road networks around the Bath, Bristol, Chippenham, Swindon and Gloucester areas would be beneficial but not a necessity.

You will be required to carry out Deliveries and Collections of our 150 Plant Units in a safe and professional manner. You will build strong customer relationships as most of our business is with account customers. We all ‘muck in’ at DAP HIRE and so on occasions we would expect you to jump on the Jetwash for 30 minutes to an hour as part of our functioning team environment

The Applicant will be hauling:

14T – 1T Excavators

10T – 0.5T Dumpers

Ped Rollers – 1400mm Tandem Drum Rollers Including Remote Controlled Rammax Trench Rollers

6M – 14M Telehandlers

Small Tools and Attachments Etc

An experienced ‘All Rounder’ is sought – preferably with general Plant and Agricultural Engineering knowledge. You must hold a full HGV driving license – We have Rigid Flat Bed Beavertail Lorries only. A full time candidate is preferred but we would consider employing someone on a ‘Self Employed’ basis or a 3 or 4 day Part Time basis too. No weekend work required.
