About the role:

Horsham District Council are looking for Driver Operatives to work within the Waste and Recycling teams.

As a qualified Driver, you will possess the minimum requirement of a clean Category C HGV licence as well as up to date CPC. It would also be an advantage if you hold a current digital tachograph card as you may be required to drive our Business Waste vehicles.

You will be required to take the lead on the round, ensuring that all Health and Safety practices are adhered to by you and your crew. You will also be able to complete all administrative processes associated with your round and operate our in-cab system, Bartec, for which training will be provided ensuring accurate data entry into our system particularly for missed, contaminated and damaged bins.

You will need to be a team player with outstanding behaviours, flexible attitude and approach to job priority that ensures the Department meets all its objectives. You will also be required to cover for absences in other areas of the department.

This role involves working outside in all weathers and you will need a good level of fitness and endurance to ensure the job gets done, which will include supporting your colleagues by loading bins.

In return, you will be working for one of the best waste collection authorities in the area working out of a depot with modern facilities and a great team environment.

Bank holiday working is contractual, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Where bank holidays are worked, pay is at the rate of double time and a half, plus 1 additional day time off in lieu per every 2 bank holidays worked. Saturday catch-up working is contractual at Christmas and New Year, paid at the rate of time and a half.
