Aviation Ground crew Specialist Supervisor Army Air Corps

Supervisor in control of the ground movement of aircraft commanding a 5 man team, as well as controlling the inspection and delivery of aviation fuel. Responsible for mentoring junior members of my team on correct equipment care and maintenance.
• Loading ammunition onto active aircraft following the strictest protocols.
• Conducting safety checks on the aircraft before the upload or download of ammunition.
• Initiating aircraft starts and shut down.
• Setting up landing sites for aircraft, and ensuring the landing site is safe and appropriate for the aircraft. Performing Risk Assessments where necessary.
• Conducting under-slung loads, ensuring correct schemes and equipment are used, and are safe to use, inspection of helicopter under-slung load equipment.
• The loading of vehicles, strapping down and restraint of loads correctly.
• Taking a lead role, reconnoitred, set up and ran a two point landing site for heavy aircraft, picking up under slung loads by day and night commanding a 6 man team.
• Took an active role in flight safety, organised and ran patrols of the aircraft maneuvering area in the UK and overseas, ensuring it was free from any debris and safe for use.
• Successfully took part in the development and training of junior members of my team, developing their subject knowledge and capability.
• Maintaining and inspecting the personal protective equipment of junior members of my team
Achievement:
When deployed to Afghanistan (June 2014 – November 2014) I was selected and placed in charge of the loading of vital defensive systems onto the aircraft. After my knowledge in this area was noticed, I also worked close to the United States Air Force and performed operations with the United States Marine Corps and the Afghanistan army. I was deployed in Camp Bastion and Kandahar Airfield.

Located at Birtley, I would operate with full vehicle checks before setting off, competent operating a digitacho, I would then follow my route of shops to drop my loads, and return un-used cages. I would be speaking face to face with customers, so my communication and attitude was a big key factor in my success. I would always operate in a timely manner, as punctuality is one of my strong points.
