OVERVIEW

I have worked in the Housing and Construction Industry for over 30 years undertaking various roles and responsibilities within this time. I started my career as an Apprentice Stonemason quickly rising to Site Supervisor within 5 years. I have also run my own Artisan building company working on many historical, cultural and period properties.

I have worked for a firm of Solicitors undertaking Landlord and Tenant works and Environment Act cases. I have undertaken works on behalf of various Housing Associations, Councils and Private Individuals throughout the UK.

I have worked for many Government organisations including the English Housing Survey, Clear Skies programme, Neighbourhood Renewal Assessments, Pathfinder and the Warmfront scheme.

I have many years experience dealing with asset management, reactive and cyclical maintenance, HHSRS assessments, procurement feasibility studies and KPI assessments.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

I am experienced in a number of various disciplines including Technical Services, Property Maintenance, Asset Management, DDA assessments, Property Development, HMO assessments and Project Management.

I have liaised with Contractors, Consultants, Tenants, Local Authorities, Building Control, Housing Associations and various other bodies over the years and have always maintained a cordial, friendly and professional working relationship with all. I have always treat tenants and clients with the utmost respect and always consider their concerns and feelings when working in or on their properties.

I have undertaken Approx. 60,000 Stock condition surveys over the last 20 years as well as various DDA, HMO, FRA and HHSRS surveys and assessments.

I have been involved in a number of community based projects including Pathfinder and Neighbourhood Renewal Assessments which involved undertaking Stock Condition Surveys and Public speaking as well as holding seminars for residents to get their views and opinions during consultation processes.

I have been involved with the Building Research Establishments’ Clear Skies Programme undertaking solar, PV and wind turbine surveys and feasibility studies throughout the UK where I was employed to visit and assess sites who met specific criteria, so that funding and equipment could be applied for and installed.

I also, when available, run my own small Artisan Stonemasonry business undertaking various contracts in all aspects of stonework. During undertaking these contracts I am responsible for the overall running of the business and associated building control, costings and management.

I am and have been employed on the English Housing Survey for over 18 years undertaking surveys of various archetypes and HMO’s as well as been involved in the development of the HHSRS.

As well as my formal qualifications I also have attended course in asbestos awareness, ladder and access training, electrical awareness, health and safety, HMO assessments, Safeguarding and vulnerable persons, Fire Risk Assessments, DDA, Lone worker programmes and Decent Homes standards in England, Scottish and Welsh variants.
