Biffa is the leading nationwide integrated waste management business providing collection, treatment, recycling and technologically-driven energy generation services. Through the expertise of our people and investment in technology we promote and deliver sustainable waste management solutions. The depot services the Yorkshire region providing multi vehicle operation with budget responsibility of over 8 million with EBITDA target of over 1.8million. On target to over achieve this.
Achievements & Responsibilities:
• O’Licence holder for the Depot.
• Responsible for weekly, monthly, yearly P&L account – surpassed budget year on year.
• Responsible for 24 vehicles – mainly bulk carrier.
• Have 26 drivers, 4 Traffic Staff & 1 Senior Traffic Dispatcher directly reporting into myself.
• Implemented weekly monitoring tools of reports through the software that was used for tacho analysis and used this to generate monthly KPI indicators – reduced infringements by 85%
• Manage Health & Safety for the site and did customer visits when sites are flagged as near miss, hazard sites – no accidents within 1 year period.
• Chair monthly Health & Safety meetings for the depot.
• Organised and planned Health and Safety week for the depot.
• Making sure all Risk Assessments are up to date – implementing new ones when needed.
• Investigations and disciplinary are done by myself.

Operating as Algeco in continental Europe, Elliott in the United Kingdom and Williams Scotsman in North America, the group manages a fleet of more than 320,000 units with operations in 26 countries throughout Europe, Middle East, China and North America. The transport for the depots was taken in house from Wincanton and is planned centrally from the Sheffield office.
Achievements & Responsibilities:
• Managed the transport planning for depots Scunthorpe, Durham, Wakefield and Sheffield.
• Delivery of cabins per day went up from 2.7 to 3.7 per vehicle.
• Achieved this through working the vehicles harder and thus cutting down use of Sub contractors and achieving a greater cost savings by using own vehicles more.
• Negotiated day rates with contracted haulage as well as one of job rates.
• Managed the driver’s hours and infringements and Holidays.
• Organised all the 6 weekly inspections and MOT on the vehicles for the depots.
• Organised permits for the power station work and wide loads notifications when needed.
• In the busy periods planned up to over 50 movements of cabins and having to take into account timed deliveries, restrictions on access to sites, weights of the cabins.
• Made sure all Health and safety regulations on sites were compiled to that receive deliveries of the cabins by issuing method statements.
• Was responsible for the depots transport P&L account.
• In charge of planning and organising with the depots on the production schedule of getting the cabins ready for the delivery plan and altering where needed.
• Negotiated prices to deliver early or next day in order to increase efficiency of the transport schedule so we are not delivery into areas where were not either collecting or delivering to so maximizing the workload.
• Overseeing all purchase orders and invoices for the haulage work that was done.

Achievements & Responsibilities:
• Increased daily loading volumes by 20% whilst maintaining stringent health & safety practices.
• Reduced overall delivery costs by 14% whilst increasing delivery volumes.
• Introduced weekly delivering KPI’s. When I left it was running at 98.9% on time.
• Managed the planning for up to 30 loads a day with a mix of articulated vehicles, rigid vehicles and HIAB vehicles. These loads are made up mainly of multi drop runs

• Managed in bound stock for the purchasing department making sure the right stock is brought in for the mill to machine.

• I had licence responsibility for 15 vehicles & 12 trailers, based in New Holland.
• Involved in establishing Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work in the area of timber loading/unloading.
• Managed introduction of Working Time Directive.
• Monitored all analogue and digital tachographs and infringements. Disciplined the driver when any serious infringement occurs and go through the laws to re-train the driver.
• Responsibility of introducing and maintaining the Driver CPC course and any other training needs in accordance with the training manager.
• I was responsible for all tacho training for the drivers within the Howarth group and implemented the driver CPC training schedule.
• Responsibility to ensure that the daily loading schedule is loaded as planned by constantly communicating with the Yard Manager and Supervisor.
• Introduced new working pattern into the warehousing part to make it more efficient for the company.
• Introduced a new spreadsheet to make life easier for stock controls.
• I was responsible of insuring all Health & Safety policies were fully implemented at all times by the drivers and yard staff.
