My vehicle is a ten-tonne flatbed vehicle although I do drive other company vehicles on occasions from a 7.5t to 26t extended body vehicle dependant on the work I need to carry out. The majority of my work is delivering wooden beams and flooring to various building sites across the UK; delivering steel beams and large drain covers for building sites and sewage plants; delivering multi-million pound equipment to various high profile contracts as well as a variety of other loads. I can complete between 2 – 4 deliveries per day dependant on where they are in the country and the size of the load. My duties also include nights out each week. I thoroughly enjoy my job working within the general haulage market and carrying a variety of different loads.

Proactively monitor CCTV actions and react to incidents that may occur by calling key holders and/or emergency services. Also, react to any alarm activations that take place throughout the shift. These alarms can be medical, intruder, emergency or power cuts that can affect businesses, elderly or the public. I need to meet targets by picking up and responding to events in a timely manner ensuring an outcome is recorded. Paper work is a huge part of the job, maintaining accurate reports at all times. I have also stepped into the position of Supervisor cover meaning I run the shift (including other departments) when the Supervisor is sick or on annual leave.
Reason for leaving:
I joined this job as a way out of the Prison Service due to the ever-increasing danger and violence I faced. I joined Cougar so that I could gain my HGV license and have a solid income. In the mean time since gaining my HGV I have been working for agencies on my days off.

About Me

I’m an active and extremely hard working individual. I enjoy working towards and meeting targets and being able to see the results of my hard work. Since I left college I have worked for multiple Security, Loss Prevention and Store Detective based roles such as ASDA, Selfridges, NEXT, Debenhams and the Prison Service which have all contributed to my experience and knowledge of the sector.
I always look to better myself whether that be by self-learning or attending courses available by my employer as well as motivating and actively encouraging colleagues around me to do the same. I’m a people person with allows me to effectively communicate with others whilst building a rapport, whether that be members of the public, senior management or colleagues.
I like to listen to other people’s views and suggestions as well as receiving personal feedback on the quality of work I am completing.
I have a strong work ethic with the intention of hitting targets on time and to an exceptional standard. I take pride in my work and my appearance and ensure that my time keeping and my attendance is second to none.
Outside of work, I’m a father to two boys aged four and one under a year old. I spend a lot of my spare time with my children and help to raise them to the best of my ability with my partner.
I’m currently a governor at the Primary school where my son is attending and enjoy the role immensely.
I take part in ‘Inspire The Future’ which entails me going to schools around the country and talking about my job to children, and the importance of GCSE’s and other qualifications. I thoroughly enjoy it as I like to help others and make a difference.
For the future, I would like to learn a second language which I believe may be Polish as I know a small amount of that already and would thoroughly enjoy the challenge of learning British Sign Language.
I recently gained my HGV License including my CPC. I have been working for Kerry Collins (agency) to gain experience in the mean time.
