I have several duties in my current positions, including;

Using the customer’s online order form, it is my duty to collect the and carefully pack the appropriate goods. Occasionally, substitutions are made, and it is my role to ensure I select substituted goods carefully, ensuring it still meets the customer’s needs and they are getting the best service possible.
● Security;
I have been trained on security and often complete this role. I am required to observe shoppers in store and via CCTV, identifying potential shoplifters and dealing with these members of the public appropriately and inline with company policies and procedures. I am also required to check store receipts when security alarms are sounded.
● Loading and unloading deliveries;
This aspect of the job requires me to unload delivery vans and to also prepare deliveries for drivers to loads their vans. This part of the job requires particular care and attention as the delivery drivers must rely on my judgement that they have the correct items for their deliveries.

Motor Vehicle Mechanic
GM Motors – Durham
September 2015 to March 2016
This position originally started as a work experience role but due to my willingness to learn and my performance throughout the placement I was offered a part time job with the company.
Within this role I undertook several tasks including; dealing with customers, answering phone calls, completing administrative duties and completing any mechanic jobs or tasks required. This position provided an excellent insight into the motorcycle maintenance industry and gave me ‘hands on’ experience of the varied day to day tasks. It also helped develop my confidence and self-awareness as I was dealing with customers on a daily basis.

Motorcycle Mechanic
AC Motorcycles, Unit – Durham
October 2014 to June 2015
At AC Motorcycles my role was initially to observe the mechanics and provide the various tools and equipment they needed to perform their tasks. I was then given small maintenance tasks to carry out whilst being observed by an experienced member of staff. This experience provided a valuable insight into working within the motorcycle industry and also led to the purchase of my first motorbike. I opted for a motorbike that required several mechanical tasks being carried out before it was usable. I believed this was a great opportunity for me to use the skills I had learned whilst working at AC Motorcycles to repair and maintain my own project. Since leaving both AC Motorcycles and New College Durham I have carried out mechanical work on both friends and family’s bikes getting to apply the skills I acquired into good use. I intend to continue learning about the mechanical aspect of motorbikes as it has since become a big hobby of mine and also an extremely useful skill.
Due to the enthusiasm I displayed and the high quality work I produced at AC Motorcycles and throughout my time at New College Durham, I achieved a ‘Student of the Year’ award which I am extremely proud of.
Track Marshall

Marshall
Sedgefield Hardwick Motocross Track, Hardwick Hall – Sedgefield
March 2014 to August 2014
My duties included; risk assessing the track, registering motorbikes and riders before they were allowed to access the track, ensuring all riders complied with necessary health and safety and wearing appropriate protective body wear. I also provided assistance in accidents and incidents on the track and surrounding areas. I acquired and developed many skills whilst in this position including; punctuality to ensure I arrived in good time to set up equipment and be briefed about the daily events; communication with my colleagues, paying customers and guests; using initiative to manage and solve the various problems that appeared on a day to day basis. As the position included working as part of a team, I was also able to develop my team work and organisation skills.
