HGV Driver

A local authority based in Leicestershire is looking for a HGV Driver to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency contract and the successful candidate must have a full relevant HGV licence and CPC experience with Hook Loader HGV’s and ideally experience within a similar local authority/housing position.

The main purpose of the role is to transport waste materials from the Council’s Recycling and Household Waste Sites (RHWS) to disposal locations, using Hook Loader HGVs.

The main duties associated with this role are as follows;

To ensure that the services are delivered for the benefit of the people
To be responsible for maintaining effective partnerships and working relationships with statutory, voluntary, private agencies and communities to promote and meet the Council’s and Department’s services and objectives
To ensure activities are delivered in the most efficient and effective manner possible
To complete all uplifts and other jobs on any given day, and to do so in the most efficient and effective manner
Comply with all systems, procedures or directions given by the Transport Supervisor or the Fleet Manager
Ensure due care for assets (including vehicles, compactors, bins and site infrastructure) when carrying out the service, minimising any incidents, accidents, damage or costs
Conduct daily vehicle checks in line with policy and legislation, and sign the driver handbook

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

HGV licence
Driver CPC
Significant experience driving HGVs
Working in waste haulage industry
Use of specialist vehicle systems relevant to haulage of waste, such as hook loader and easy-sheet

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering a negotiable rate of between £11 – £16p/hour Umbrella Ltd dependant on experience/tickets (approx. £320 – £430 NET p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
