Transport Planner
AB Agri – Peterborough
April 2018 to Present
Currently route planning a fleet of 12 vehicles with 20 drivers. All vehicles are 6×2 tractor units pulling liquid tanker trailers. My role is to ensure the fleet is being planned in the most cost effective and efficient manner to ensure maximum profitably is achieved. I plan the drivers runs using an excel spreadsheet and plan each delivery/collection on the vehicle that is most suitable based on location, type of trailer (whether its suitable for certain areas), drivers hours etc. As the Transport Operation is 24/7, 365, it is my job to ensure that all vehicles are being fully utilized at all times. This involves planning all drivers shifts accurately to ensure the vehicles are manned as much as possible without breaching working time directive rules. Other roles for this position include working closely with the Transport Manager to ensure we are meeting compliance requirements in line with our Operator’s License.

Transport Manager

February 2015 to April 2018
In this role, I managed a fleet of 6 vehicles transporting galvanized and powder coated steel nationwide. I Managed and co-ordinated the tasks of all drivers to ensure deliveries were planned/scheduled and carried out in the most cost effective, safe, accurate, timely and efficient manner, whilst being in line with departmental objectives. As the CPC holder on the company’s Operators License, I managed, recorded and controlled the fleet as per the legislation requirements and company objectives. During my time in this position, I made the department more cost effective by tackling several key areas, including introducing a re-structured Transport planning procedure, opening a new supplier account with a more appropriate fleet maintenance provider, and adjusting drivers hours to better suit load completion times.

Logistics Administrator

June 2011 to February 2015
In this role, I was responsible for full load Transport planning, liaising with pallet networks and local Transport companies, and agreeing pallet rates for journeys. I was the 1st point of contact for all customer service problems and resolved all service issues. My achievements in this role were the following.
Agreed a new cheaper rate structure with our pallet network companies.
Visited 60 branches nationwide of a Key Account customer to implement an improved service plan.
Reduced Transport damages by implementing a new quality control system.
Reduced claims by improving POD capture.
Implemented a new empty pallet cost reduction scheme.
Deputised for Group Transport Manager in his absence.

Stock Controller (Apprenticeship)

May 2010 to June 2011
After leaving school I gained an Apprenticeship at Isofast and was responsible for stock control and various aspects of customer service. Whilst working there I passed all of my apprenticeship exams and gained an intermediate level NVQ in Business & Administration.
Daily tasks included carrying out regular stock checks, liaising with customers to book deliveries, and assisting in the pick and pack operation.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Although I am young I have a mature outlook in respect of customer service, which I am passionate about. I also understand the fine balance between profitability and customer service excellence. I thrive on responsibility and I am dedicated to getting results. I have visited various depots and hubs of both suppliers and customers, and have had many operational meetings with senior personnel of large Transport Company’s and pallet network operators.
I am very personable and able to convey my Company’s philosophy of excellent service to customer, as my nationwide tour of sixty branches of Clark Drain’s biggest customer illustrated.
More recently, I feel that the experience I have gained whilst Managing drivers and being legally responsible for compliance, along with my Transport planning knowledge, will help me contribute to running a larger fleet that meets my ambitions.
