I established Go Direct in November 2000, I was responsible for the day-to day running of the business with a particular emphasis on sales and business development. Initially, trading as an Employment Business supplying temporary driving staff to Midlands based haulage and logistics companies. A period of constant growth was sustained, at its peak the business was supplying in excess of 100 drivers on a daily basis, until the recession of 2008/09. Following the restructuring of the market place in the post-recession years I chose to diversify into haulage, starting with one owned articulated vehicle in 2011 and training. Trading as Go Direct Transport the haulage division developed to be the heart of the business. Alongside this was Go Direct Training which offered training to the transport and logistics sector from its RTITB accredited training centre and DVSA approved HGV test centre.

I was initially employed as an industrial recruitment consultant. I did not enjoy this role. As a consequence, I met with the Directors of the company and proposed opening a driving division for them, as in my previous role I had enjoyed a measure of success. After due consideration the Directors gave their backing to my proposal. Following a successful development of the driving division I was appointed Branch Manager of their second branch. A further promotion to General Manager followed after opening the third branch the following year.

In the year I spent with People Direct, I rebuilt a depressed driving division from placing 6 drivers per day to a division running 50-60 drivers per day on my departure. An uncertain future, following a company takeover, led to a move to Clerman Recruitment.
