Oliver Rae has an exciting new permanent opportunity available as a Transport Planner for a local general haulage company. We are seeking someone with a passion for transport, experience within this field, especially with Pallet Track / Pallet ways.

The role is a full-time, permanent position and our clients have a competitive salary available for the role.

As the transport planner for their fleet of HGV vehicles, you will be responsible for the efficient planning of deliveries and collections through their own haulage customers or through our client’s contracted collection and delivery network companies. Exploring and planning the best and most cost-effective routes to ensure delivery times are made in accordance with customer SLA’s. Due to the nature of the business, your hours will be variable and the job may require some weekend work.

Job Duties

·Effectively organising your designated team of drivers, vehicles, and service network, to ensure optimum service delivery and profitability.

·Provide effective routes for drivers and produce manifests for each driver daily.

·Ensure Driver legislation is always adhered to in accordance with UK and EU regulations.

·Maintain a forward-looking philosophy within a flexible teamwork-based environment and ensure that a positive working culture is in place and remains in place by proper and systematic planning.

·Manage the expectations of the company to ensure drivers are effectively using the in-cab technology.

·Liaise with drivers and customers effectively to ensure deliveries and collections are completed correctly.

·Organising backloads for drivers as required.

·Act as a brand ambassador for the company and create an excellent impression.

Personal Specification

·Ability to demonstrate knowledge EU/GB statutory driver working time rules and regulations

·Ability to demonstrate excellent experience within traffic planning

·Experience in working with a diverse customer base

·Excellent written and communication skills

·Ability to build the relationship

·Ability to adapt to rising situations

·CPC Qualification preferred but not necessary

Salary

£24,000 – £26,000 dependent on experience

Monday – Friday and will include some weekends
