I started in the company already in a management position due to my previous experience. Whilst here I have undergone training courses, including health and safety awareness, first aid training, payroll training, stock control training, and systems training. All this came as a huge benefit in progressing in my current job role as I put my previous experience along with what I had learned on specially designed courses to make my knowledge much richer. In this role I was responsible for my own set of keys to the store for opening and closing, stock and cash management, cash handling, delivery management, staff supervision, team leading, organizing of staff rotas, operation of auditable paperwork and processes and customer service/communication. In this job role I had the opportunity to travel to various parts of the country to help prepare new stores for their grand openings. It involved managing teams of up to 40 or 50, allocating job roles and using teamwork to work towards a deadline.

In this role I was required to use my communication skills to understand customer needs, advise customers on suitable products and identify and maximize sales opportunities as this was a commission based role. We give quotations to traders and are required to build strong relationships with our traders and regular customers to increase our average transaction value (ATV). I also do a lot of work in the warehouse side of things, lifting and moving heavy items of stock on and off wooden pallets and lorries ready to send off orders or receive deliveries and so this job requires me to be physically active. Finally, we are required to do stock checks, cleaning duties and cashing up and the end of the day. Please note this was only intended to be a temporary role, hence only being employed here for six months.

I was employed by Reynolds as a multi drop driver and put through my HGV course as part of a work scheme created by the company. After gaining my Class 2 qualifications I was driving class 2 vehicles to make 20-30 drops per day to restaurant, schools and business in and around the M25 area. Some work also including long distance driving. I gained valuable knowledge of the road and of handling HGV vehicles and used my previous customer service experience to build relationships with customers.

In this role I was in charge of the removal of vehicles for the purposes of police investigation work, traffic accidents and repossession. This involved moving vehicles to a secure police pound for forensic examinations or to be stored until sold at auction. In this job I was trained in dealing with challenging situations and confrontations, the proper handling of seized goods and filling out of paperwork to an acceptable standard. As well as this I was able to use my previous customer service experience and people skills in challenging situations such as dealing with people who may become confrontational and co operating with police and other authorities to carry my job to the highest standard.

Working as part of a 2 man team my duties involve the delivery and collection of kitchens and other products. Driving a HGV vehicle I make between 3-15 drops per day to customers properties and company showrooms.
