ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I have been involved with the transport industry for over 26 years, starting out as an LGV C+E Driver, Driver Trainer/Assessor, managing a training department, a Transport Team Manager, a Transport Manager, a Depot Manager and currently an Operations/Transport Manager. I have made it my goal to learn as much as possible in all aspects of my career and pass on this knowledge and expertise to others. I am currently engaged in agency work due to leaving my previous position due to personal reasons which I am more than happy to discuss.
• National and international CPC holder and IOSH certificate.
• I have been an O licence holder
• I am fully conversant with tachomaster and Isotrak systems.
• I have a fantastic geographical knowledge of the UK and using this I am able to ensure that all deliveries are timely and also completed in an economical and geographical manner.
• I consider myself a team player, very professional with an approachable manner and I can communicate well at all levels.
• I have excellent man management skills along with a good sense of humour. I have built close working relationships with all drivers that I have been responsible for within all my roles and organisations that I have worked for.
• Working my way through the ranks from HGV driver to Manager has enabled me to gain respect from staff and drivers alike as I am aware of the roles that they perform and I can ensure that any task given to staff can be performed legally within driver’s hours etc.
• Experience of all aspects of recruitment and responsibility for monitoring, supervision and discipline of all drivers and staff.
• Responsibility for planning the up keep and maintenance of all vehicles within a fleet.
Flexibility Within my roles I have had to be very flexible, this has involved working nights, weekends, shifts, covering for sickness, working ad hoc shifts to ensure business demand is met and also that driver compliance has been met when the drivers have been in various locations. Ad hoc working when meeting customer demands for example holiday seasons such as Christmas, Mother’s Day and Easter etc.
In my previous role I was a Transport Manager overseeing the day to day running of a busy transport depot across 2 sites, including 50 core drivers plus agency staff and 12 office staff including nightshift.
• I have been responsible for the timely delivery and collection of all goods inbound and outbound; this is to meet the customer demand.
• I ensured that I had adequate staffing levels to meet this demand and also ensure that all work is carried out in a cost effective and geographically sound manner.
• I was responsible for all legal compliance (e.g. driver’s hours, tachograph legislation and vehicle maintenance) within the organisation and I was also responsible for all recruitment aspects of the business. Within the remit of recruitment I engaged with many external agencies to ensure that we meet the needs of the business with the allocation of drivers and vehicles.
• I was responsible for the monitoring, supervision and discipline of all drivers and staff across the sites. I ensured that all training needs were identified and delivered to ensure that staff perform their day to day roles in a safe and cohesive manner.
• To ensure that the business is sustainable I am commercially aware and hold the needs of the business at the forefront of my responsibilities.
Previously I was an Operations/Transport Manager overseeing the day to day running of a busy transport office including satellite depots across many areas including the midlands, Telford, Nottingham, Derby and East Anglia. I was responsible for all legal compliance (e.g. driver’s hours, tachograph legislation and vehicle maintenance) within the organisation and I was also responsible for all recruitment aspects of the business, engaging with external agencies to ensure the needs of the business were met. I was responsible for the monitoring, supervision and discipline of all drivers. I ensured that all training needs were identified and delivered to staff to ensure they perform their day to day roles in a safe and cohesive manner. Ensuring that the business is sustainable I am commercially aware and held the needs of the business at the forefront of my responsibilities.
As an Assistant Depot Manager and O licence holder. I was responsible in assisting with the day to day running of a busy depot which delivered fresh goods to meet customer demand on a multi drop basis. I ran daily reports to ensure that all deliveries were met. I managed all aspects of recruiting drivers and managing existing core driver and warehouse staff including sickness and disciplinary reviews. I worked closely with external companies to book ad hoc courier services. I had daily contact with customers when issues arose regarding deliveries and driver issues. I was responsible for planning the up keep and maintenance of all vehicles within the depot and also the health, safety and well-being of the staff. I managed all legal compliance regarding tachograph infringements etc. During my time at Reynolds due to the departure of the Depot Manager I stepped turbulent and uncertain times and also a very busy festive season. My role had involved me being on call 24/7 to deal with matters as they arose and to make decisions to meet the needs of the business.
As a Transport Manager I was overseeing the day to day running of 82 vehicles which include planning, man management and legal compliance on working time directive and road transport law. Ensuring that legal compliance regarding vehicle servicing and defects were managed and executed in a timely manner. Ensure that customer needs were met. Ensure that liaison and communication with out- based drivers was completed and their needs were met also ensuring their legal and vehicle compliance was completed. Ensure that liaison with contractors was managed in an appropriate manner to meet the needs of the contracts and manage sub contract vehicles as necessary to meet the demand of customers and services.
I previously worked as a Transport Team Manager at Tesco; this involved overseeing a team of clerks and the day to day running of a busy transport office dealing with time critical store deliveries which also involved vital close working relationships with warehouse shift managers and warehouse team managers. My role involved ensuring all drivers met legal compliance regarding EU tacho laws and working time directives.
I was responsible for my own team of drivers conducting reviews, investigations, disciplinary matters, risk assessment feedback and dealing with any other driver issues that may arise. My role also involved creating reports, monitoring and maintaining KPI’s which are sourced from a system known as Isotrak and these are reported to the Senior Management Team on a daily basis at time critical intervals. I also ensured that the department was ran efficiently and cost effectively. I also oversaw the Training Team to ensure that all drivers training was up to date, I also ensured that all vehicles were compliant with maintenance procedures and all drivers were aware of their responsibilities with the day to day checks of the vehicles that they use and know where to report issues to. Any issues with tachos would be dealt with as and when they arose. I also ensured that all agency staff were fully compliant with the policies and procedures of the DC. If there were any breaches with this then I would contact the relevant Agency to deal with the driver concerned.
As a Trainer/Driver Assessor my role has been to assess and train both full time and agency staff in areas such as driving techniques, improving MPG, road safety, tachograph training, health and safety, working time directive, risk assessments, customer care, and driving licence audits and planning training sessions with minimal impact to the business. I also have a vast knowledge of a vehicle/driver system called Fleet board.
As a Driver I have been involved in long distance operations, national/international and national/regional distribution which has involved many different applications with transport.
