Transport Manager/Project Manager
- As the Transport/Project manager I demonstrated excellent organisation and planning skills, furthermore, I was able to lead and motivate a team of 30.
- The job although varied as I had two roles, I was typically involved in the day to day operation management, finances, budgets and profit loss accounts.
- I had to make sure the Transport operation met its performance and targets monitoring through kpi’s and benchmarking with other similar companies, reporting directly to the Managing Director.
- As the logistic industry is the 2nd highly regulatory industry after aviation, it was my duty to make sure I complied by all rules and regulations set by DVSA, and made sure health and safety was adhered to at all times
2014 – 2015
XPO logistics Senior Planner
- As my time at XPO my role was to plan loads for vehicles carrying general haulage, in line with clients orders and expectations, always coordinated and planned accordingly with WTD.
- I had to always actively utilise vehicles with a view to support and maximise daily revenue targets, also made sure the vehicles were available for 6 weekly inspections, servicing and MOT without affecting the operations with careful planning.
- In this role communication was key making sure to conduct driver briefing to high standards, debriefing to ensure all concerns and issues were handled without any unreasonable delay.
2011 – 2014
Head of Transport Eurofoods Ltd
- As head of transport managing five depots including head office it was a challenging and unique role.
- It was my role to be able to communicate with four managers and delegate work accordingly and be able to be available for them to deal with any fleet compliance or driver issues.
- One of my main duties and responsibilities was to manage the vehicles to be roadworthy and drivers were complying with traffic and driver hour rules.
- As the operator’s licence was in my name it was my responsibility to the wider public through the traffic commissioner, for ensuring that I was always compliant.
- It was my duty and responsibility to review audit and approve payroll, expenses and draft budgets.
- Always supported and monitored all depots regularly and provided facilities for coaching to managers or training to drivers.
- One of main strategies was to improve recruitment of the drivers and the retention of the drivers by offering different incentives to them.
- All servicing, inspections, MOT of vehicles were my responsibility for all depots and records at each depot were duplicated and held at head office to be able to monitor in an efficient way
