About Risk Innovation:
We maximise the use of analytics and ground-breaking computing; inspiring others to think creatively. We provide consultancy support across the Division for analytical and modelling improvement and innovation. Undertake ‘real data’ proof of concept projects for new analytical, robotics, machine learning and other modelling approaches, applications and methodologies. You’ll be part of a centre of excellence for industry leading techniques in data mining, predictive modelling, machine learning, Virtual Reality, robotics and analytical data visualisation.
About the role:
In this high profile role you’ll develop and deliver Risk Innovation ideas based on exceptional data, analytical, visualisation, automation, application development and machine intelligence knowledge.
You’ll lead Innovation activity to advance best practice, delivering and disseminating results and techniques and acting as a liaison with the wider data science community.
You’ll get ‘hands on’ with machine learning algorithms, cognitive computing, data visualisation.
Using the latest technology available to the Group you’ll design, build and deliver your own applications, visualisations and model developments.
You’ll also conduct research and Test & Learn experimentation, utilising the Risk Innovation Lab Server and other cutting edge analytical infrastructure, to ensure we remain an industry leader in using technology to improve risk management.
About you:
Essential
• A good degree (2:1+) in a numerate or computer science subject with knowledge of advanced analytical techniques including regression modelling, artificial intelligence or machine learning.
• Good experience in the development and implementation of predictive analytics, automation, cognitive computing (e.g. text analytics, image recognition), visualisation or similar applied data science areas.
• Experienced in the extraction and manipulation of data to support developments
• Solid experience in the use of automation software and/or statistical packages (e.g., Python, R, Matlab, C(inc. ++/#), SAS, Java, Spark, VBA etc.) for developing models and applications, including on large datasets.
• Experience of data extraction, cleansing and manipulation both in database (SQL) and using in memory/dynamic analytical approaches (e.g. Tableau, SAS VA, d3.js, R Shiny).
• Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical colleagues and to management; experience of formal presentations to senior management and tailoring communication to different audiences.
• A natural ability with numbers, with the ability to work quickly and at a high level of detail and accuracy, and a highly analytical approach to problem solving.
Desirable
• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject (maths, statistics, operational research, economics, computer science, applied science with a numerate component).
• Qualifications or experience of predictive analytics, automation, artificial intelligence.
• Experience of data science technologies Python, R, Matlab, C (inc. ++/#), SAS, Java, Spark, IBM Bluemix, MS Azure, web development and lots more….
• Experience with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and simple automation (e.g. VBA).
• Experience with cognitive computing (as applied in text analytics, natural language generation, image recognition, GANs etc).
