LGV C+E Driver

Power Electrics is a successful and expanding company, the largest privately owned generator specialist in the UK. We need an experienced HIAB HGV1 driver to join our Transport team at our busy main depot in Bristol. The successful candidate will play an integral role in helping our rental customers with their emergency and standby electrical power requirements.

You must have a current HIAB licence (Hook) – (ALLMI or RTITB preferred) – with current experience of hydraulic lorry loader use, and an LGV licence, C+E (old Class 1 HGV).

As you will be visiting customer sites, delivering and collecting Generators and associated equipment, you will be expected to drive any vehicle from our extensive fleet. This includes 6 and 8 Wheeler rigid lorry-loader equipped flatbeds with and without drawbar trailers, Tractor Units pulling various trailers, Fuel Tankers and 4×4‘s.

Our customer base is wide ranging, covering Utilities, events and exhibition organisers, transport infrastructure, construction companies etc. Occasionally the sites visited will be challenging, so excellent customer service skills are needed.

You will do a variety of tasks, not just driving duties. In the main, you will be responsible for delivering and collecting generators for hire and sale to and from customers’ sites. This includes loading and offloading equipment, connecting generator sets with their external fuel tanks, starting them up, checking for leaks and informing the customer of the basic operations of the generator. (We will provide training for this). You will also be delivering fuel to customers’ sites using a fuel tanker or 4 x 4 and bowser as required. You will therefore have a flexible approach to working hours as the nature of our business requires regular early starts and late finish times and some weekend work.

You will also be expected to provide Call-Out cover, on a rota basis, for generator deliveries or collections, refuelling or other emergency work requiring use of a lorry or 4 x 4. During each “On Call” week, there will be no scheduled daytime work and driver will be required to be available to be called into work for emergency driving jobs between the hours of 17.00 hours to 08.00 hours Monday to Friday and then 12.00 hours on Saturday through to 08.00 hours the following Monday morning.

YOU WILL NEED:

LGV Licence required, C+E (Old Class 1)
Experience with equivalent vehicle types (Rigid Wagon with Drawbar Trailer rated to 44 Tonnes, Tractor Unit with 45’ flatbed trailer)
Lorry Loader Licence (Hook) – (ALLMI or RTITB preferred). HIAB experience is essential for the job.

Drivers CPC card
If you also have an ADR Licence (Class 3, Tanks & Packages minimum), a Forklift licence and hold a CPCS or CSCS card, these would be ideal.

NOTE: You should live within a reasonable travelling distance to the Bristol depot (around 30 minutes max) because of our on-call response requirements.
