Job Title: Associate / VP Tax product/platform advisory role – Corporate Tax Department – London
Departmental description: The position is based in London in the Corporate Tax Department in the product advisory tax team which covers the tax risk in business transactions within the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa) for the wide range of J.P. Morgan businesses including trading, investment banking, wealth management, asset management, treasury and custody services.

Job Summary: The role will involve identifying the taxation consequences, both technical and practical implementation matters, of a wide variety of transactions across potentially a number of the business lines with some focus on German or French tax matters (as the case may be).
The role includes partnering with colleagues in the business, legal, finance and operations as well as working with colleagues within Corporate Tax in New York and in other locations, colleagues covering VAT and transfer pricing.
Core Responsibilities: The initial focus will be on advising on various transactions or scenarios across the team.Essential skills/experience:
The successful candidate will be either a German steuerberater or have a relevant French professional tax advisory qualification, must speak excellent English and must have worked in the past, or currently be working, providing tax advice in a law or accounting firm.
It is essential for the candidate to like dealing with people, be of flexible disposition and that they should be a good team player. He/she should be capable of communicating tax issues to non-tax personnel and must be interested in learning the commercial context in which the tax advice is being given.
The successful candidate must be capable of working under pressure in a commercial environment while not compromising technical or ethical standards. A willingness to approach new and unfamiliar issues in an analytical and logical manner is required.
Desirable skills/experience (optional):
Experience of working in a large / multi-national Financial Services business is desirable but not essential as training will be given on the job.
Qualifications (if applicable):
German Steuerberater or French qualified tax adviser
Advanced / Masters degree in French / German tax law desirable
