BESTLOG LTD (Chichester) are seeking a versatile and hands‑on Maintenance & HGV Yard Shunter Technician to support fleet compliance, site operations, and the unloading of vehicle bodyshells. This role combines vehicle/yard maintenance (50%) with HGV shunting and unloading duties (50%), with full training provided.

Operate HGV and forklift Truck (FLT training can be arranged if not held).
Key Responsibilities

HGV Yard Shunting & Bodyshell Unloading (50%) – Bognor

Shunt LHD HGV trailers arriving daily from Germany into correct unloading positions.
Safely unload vehicle bodyshells and deliver them to the customer’s warehouse/handover team.
Load empty trollies for return transport back to Germany.
Complete fleet truck and trailer inspections and assist with defect auditing.
Collect and return transport paperwork (CMR) to the office.
Opportunity to progress toward Class 1 licence if not already held.
Warehouse & Fleet Maintenance, Yard & Site Support (50%) – Chichester

Manage Warehouses (yard flow, warehouse handovers, and stock levels)
Inspection checks of all inbound and out bound high value vehicles / Support high-value/special vehicle loads, and handovers to collecting drivers.
Conduct regular truck and trailer pre‑inspections, walk‑around checks, and assist with PMIs/MOT prep (of entire fleet).
Carry out basic repairs (lights, batteries, door catches, fluid top‑ups), and assist with specialist tasks under guidance of the maintenance lead.
Maintain yard housekeeping, including inspections, fence repairs, and security checks etc. Maintain stock of HGV fluids (oil, ad-blue etc), refills, and safe area maintenance. Perform fire safety checks (fire warden duties).
Support Transport Manager in compliance tasks including tachograph downloads, LOLER checks, and defect reporting/resolution. Support driver checks (licence/eyesight), driver assessments, and coaching when required.

· Have the ability to (mainly) work alone or as part of a team

· Demonstrate excellent levels of customer service

· Must be vigilant and have a very keen eye for detail and process

· Will be smart and presentable at all times.

· Good working attitude to fellow workers and of course customers.

· Able to use communication systems / electronic forms / WhatsApp / Teams etc
