Locations: Duxford (Cambridge) & Bedford
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Salary: £15.50 per hour – £32,250 – £42,000 + £26/night-out allowance, overtime & weekend premiums
Hours: 2–3 nights out per week, Monday–Friday trunking & back-loads

Why this role matters

Your overnight runs maximise fleet utilisation, reduce empty miles and help us deliver a carbon-reduction roadmap that includes expanding the electric rigid fleet. There may be a requirement to help out on multi drop pallet network work when it gets busy.

What you’ll do

Drive a sleeper-pod rigid, planning safe overnight stops (we don’t park in laybys!)
Deliver full & part loads nationwide; collect back-loads where scheduled
Record ePODs, fuel/electric usage and tacho data accurately
Guard compliance: daily walk-around, hours & rest rules, load security
Represent Welch Group professionally at RDCs and customer sites
The skills & experience you’ll bring

LGV C licence & Driver CPC
Experience with night-out or long-distance runs preferred
Respect for safety, legal hours and customer service
Comfortable using on-board telematics & driver-handheld

To get started and apply for an Operator’s Licence, you need to have £8,000 which is a requirement of the UK and EU transport regulations (you won’t spend it).
