Part-Time Night Shunter

Consortio Recruitment Group are looking for a Part-Time Night Shunter for a client of ours in Crawley.

Responsibilities of Role:

· Place vehicles (3.5t – artic & trailers) in the required areas as per instructions from the warehouse and operations teams

· Load and unload trunk vehicles using forklift

Preload vehicles ready for morning dispatch ensuring weight limits are not exceeded
· Use two-way radios to keep in contact with areas of the operation as necessary

· Ensure all necessary safety checks are carried out as specified by the company

· Report any defects, accident damage or incidents as soon as they are discovered.

· Remain professional and courteous in all communications

· Report any breaches in by drivers and subcontractors to the transport manager

· Preserve vehicle parking area layouts and report debris or potential hazards to the facilities and health and safety team

· Continuously work within the line of Health and Safety Legislation

· To carry out other tasks that may be required by the company from time to time.

· Adhere to health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to the care of equipment

· Working Sunday – Thursday, midnight to 5am. You will need to be flexible and willing to work Overtime at busy periods and be confident at working to tight deadline.

(A degree of flexibility is required in order to meet the demands of the business)

Requirements of Role

· An HGV Class 1 license is preferred though an ability to operate HGV up to and including 18t rigids on private land is essential

· Current Counterbalance Forklift License

· An understanding of the legal requirements regarding tachograph and driving hours

· CPC and DIGI are not required as all operation of the trucks is on private land

· Previous on road HGV 1 driving and shunting experience

· Knowledge of Logistics and Transport industry

Salary and Benefits:

· Competitive salary. Starting salary is £13,000pa for hours worked

· Overtime rates paid after 5 hours worked daily at 1.25hrs
