Custody and Fund Services provides a broad range of securities services including custody, accounting, FX, cash management, compliance, performance and securities lending to large asset owner and asset manager clients investing in cross-border assets.
Global Custody Product Management EMEA- Segment Head, Asset Managers
Global Custody Product Management is responsible for the strategy, end to end ownership, governance and P&L of the Global Custody business. This is a broad based all-encompassing role. We are looking to add to the team a proven leader that will head the Asset Management segment for the Global Custody business in EMEA. This role will own the product offering, the operating model, the financials and the risks associated with the delivery of this segment.
The Product Management team is global, with members based in London and Bournemouth New York in , and in Hong Kong . The European team covers principally two segments; Asset Managers and Asset Owners. The Asset Manager segment is responsible for with a geographic focus on the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, The Middle East, Eastern Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa. As this will be a segment lead there will be ample opportunity to drive the segment and have meaningful input to the US and Asia segment as well.
The role is a critical business function focussing on the end to end ownership, product definition and our ability to deliver a first class service to the world’s most important clients.
Position Summary
We are seeking a detailed orientated, seasoned experienced leader who has deep operating s knowledge of the Global Custody business ideally gained in a client facing or operations role. The role will be responsible for the good governance and control of the Global Custody product whilst working closely with new and existing clients to maximise revenue and profitability of the business. End to end ownership is critical so this role will require working with operations, legal, compliance, technology and all the support units across the bank to ensure the business is operating at its maximum efficiency levels. Specific duties will include:
Ownership, and the implementation of the Product definition
Regulatory change implementation – on an end to end basis
Product ownership for the segment
End to end operating control including designing, building and owning operating metrics
Client profitability
People management (both direct reports and the usual large organisation matrix reporting)
Client efficiency metrics (manual processing, repairs etc)
Multiple ‘business as usual’ projects and business enablement initiatives
Balance sheet usage – specifically excess cash management
Reporting on client revenue and receivables
Working on client RFI’s, RFP’s and due diligence responses
Pricing client deals
Negotiating client legal contracts
Participating in client service reviews
Understanding client requirements and working internally with product development to deliver the client change agenda
Help manage the Global Custody controls agenda including CASS, CMAR, audits etc
Help drive the Global Custody profitability by involvement in the strategic financial planning for New, Incremental, Lost and Repriced deals
Act as the key custody contact for selected clientsRequirements
A proven leader in the industry with an excellent track record of delivery.
Deep understanding or knowledge of the Asset Management or Asset Owner segment, ideally gained from either within operations, product management or the relationship / client service organisation
Must demonstrate an ability to quickly grasp concepts and have an understanding of the Global Custody business and then be able to articulate them clearly and concisely in both written and oral form.
Commercially focussed and able to understand the business P&L; experience in managing a P&L would be advantageous
Ideally, a proven knowledge of Corporate and Investment Bank products
Ability to demonstrate inclusion of risk and control parameters in daily activities
Ability to partner across the global custody organisation; exposure, experience or working with or in operations, technology, risk, controls, compliance, legal, client service, relationship management would be advantageous
Previous experience of product management would be ideal, otherwise a demonstrable understanding of the core concepts of product management is required
A deep understanding of the regulatory regime and impacts on the services being developed.
Strong business analysis skills backed by the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders would be beneficial
Able to demonstrate strong presentation and communication skills.
Able to demonstrate good understanding client needs and how this impacts the product development agenda/roadmap
Strong skills in using Microsoft Office tools to communicate and present.This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
