Personal Profile
I am currently seeking a HGV driver role, either a 4 on 4 off tramper role or day driving. I gained my class 1 licence on 19/01/23 and worked for BCA Automotive as an 11+ car transporter driver from 23/01/23 to July 2024. I enjoyed my time as a transporter driver, I only left the company due to contracting covid and needing to take time to regain my full fitness. Now that I am back to full fitness I am looking to join a new company and start a new challenge. I have a thorough understanding of drivers’ hours, good customer service skills, a positive attitude, a flexible approach to work and a strong safety at work ethic. I have a current CPC card and Digi Card.
For the 11 years prior to gaining my HGV licence I assessed issues within domestic properties, specifying solutions to identified problems and implementing the solutions to completions. Alongside identifying issues and providing solutions I undertake domestic property renovations and alterations. With diverse knowledge and practical working experience of domestic building regulation requirements, diverse formal qualifications in Electronics, Electrical installations (I updated to 18th edition wiring regulations in August 2021) and Plumbing and extensive management, data analysis and hands on building and design experience I am very multi skilled practical person and keen to continue learning a new career chapter adding to my skills and experience.
I definitely have passion for driving and have a strong technical and working knowledge of the highway code and regulations. I have significant experience and ability to be able to both work on my own in the field and work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve work goals ensuring that team members are positively encouraged to succeed within their roles ensuring the productivity of the team. I have a relatable and easy-going personality as well as I love to continually learn new information and skills.
I have many years experience of working with clients / customers putting them at ease when necessary, delivering difficult information when necessary whilst remaining professional at all times to promote a positive customer experience
I believe I have excellent analysis and problem solving skills as this has been a key part of my role for many years. I have a long track record of using my initiative and taking a proactive approach to my role within an organisation and I would welcome the opportunity to demonstrate this at an interview.
Given my extensive experience and the short nature of a CV I hope the passion for and extensive technical experience shines through and enables me to move onto the next stage of the recruitment process…
I hold a full UK driving license without a single accident or claim in over 36 years of driving.

Work Experience:
11+ Car Transporter HGV Driver (Tramper)
BCA Automotive Ltd 23/01/2023 to July 2024
Working as an 11 car HGV transporter driver responsible for loading, transporting and unloading up to 11 cars per load. As with driving any class 1 vehicle the routine daily driver vehicle checks were performed and recorded as part of the start of each working day. I worked on a 4 on 4 off rota travelling all over the UK collecting mainly new cars from multiple port locations and delivering them to car dealerships across the country. When transporting new vehicles it was not uncommon for the load value to be close to £1,000,000 so extreme care and caution was always required with the load when driving and parking overnight. In all of my time with BCA I had a zero damage rating so was always awarded my damage free bonus.
Principle Property Assessor for Creation Living Space Ltd
14/01/2019 to 31/12/2022
Principle Property Assessor for TD Survey, Electrical and Services Ltd
05/2011 to 13/01/2019
I have been assessing property defects, providing solutions and undertaking property developments for over 11 years now and have transformed many kitchens, bathrooms, garages, living spaces (or any other space inside or outside of the home) into modern usable spaces. Around half of the commissions I undertake involve domestic property structural alterations which require structural survey reports and verification of correct installation of supporting steelwork completion by appropriate building control officers. I have extensive technical and practical knowledge of domestic building pathology and experience of construction techniques and requirements in many different property types and the common failures associated with different property types.
From small repair jobs to whole house refurbishments I enjoy the variety of work and the many different styles different people request. I take pride in getting jobs right the first time, the right way to do something isn’t always the easiest way but I refuse to compromise on quality. I have hundreds of photo documented jobs demonstrating a large variety of alterations, repairs and refurbishments.
Kitchens are planned with usability in mind, bathrooms and showers are always properly tanked and water sealed to ensure a long working life and electrical rewires are done with practicality of outlet placement in mind. I have seen all too often the signs and impacts of a failed installation in a domestic setting. I often like to take on the jobs many others don’t want because they are deemed too difficult. After years of experience and bespoke creation skills mean I love to create living spaces with a real wow factor, the only limit to what is created is the imagination in the work brief.
I have undertaken many structural alterations to domestic properties requiring installation of steal beams and supports. I am a qualified electrician (updated to 18th Edition wiring regulations in August 2021) and I’m experienced in all ages and types of domestic electrical installations.
Although I do routinely do smaller repairs the normal commissions for property alterations are generally valued in the 10’s of thousands range. I take pride in my customer service approach and my diplomacy when required. A customer doesn’t always want to hear the news I need to give them but I believe myself to be fair and approachable and always receive positive feedback on the service that I deliver.
My DBS check is recent and the details are listed above in the qualifications section.
Principal Monitoring Officer – Multi Modal Studies
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council 02/2004 to 05/2011
I was based in and managed a 3000 Sq ft facility which was responsible for monitoring traffic flow around the Barnsley Borough. I had 3 permanent staff and 15 casual staff that I used to undertake many types of monitoring surveys. During my time there I grew the department to where all of the surveys were no longer done by external contractors and were brought back in house. I operated the department as an internal trading entity and we routinely undertook complex transport studies and behaviour surveys across South Yorkshire and generated significant sums for the council as a result. Due to my engineering background I designed and built a 120 camera mobile ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system that was used to great effect across the region the data from which was used for many road redevelopment schemes.
Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) Monitoring Coordinator
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council 02/1999 to 02/2004
My role was to lead and motivate SRB monitoring team. To monitor expenditure, outputs and impact of SRB projects against known targets working closely with other officers in the team to ensure correct financing and usage of the £8,000,000 investment funding. I was required to generate reports to the central accountancy finance officers and ensure timely payments to projects were completed. My role included delivering regular training to projects both at the project location and in a group setting at a training venue.
Development Officer – Housing Services
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council 07/1993 to 02/1999
I worked for within the central team managing the 34,500 council houses within the Barnsley borough. I was involved with planned maintenance schemes for domestic electrical infrastructure and solid fuel / gas heating appliances, stock maintenance monitoring and condition surveys.
Because of my background in engineering I was seconded to work with corporate IT services during 1995 and 1996 to work on setting up the tendering system infrastructure for the government imposed compulsory competitive tendering of housing services. The contract was subsequently awarded in house and the system I set up was used for the 3 year duration of the contract.
