Transport Planner Required

We are seeking an experienced transport planner. We are a dynamic, customer focused provider of specialist transport services to the airfreight, events and plant & machinery industries. Established in 2011 we have built a reputation for offering reliable time-sensitive and next day deliveries throughout the UK. The vital role of the Senior Transport planner is to support the business in ensuring our modern fleet is maintained to a very high standard which in turn supports the smooth running of our our 24/7 operation. This is a key role to the business.

Liaising with Transport manager that the vehicle servicing, PMI and other planned maintenance plus all urgent/unplanned repairs carried out in the correct and timely manner.

Route planning and overseeing of day to day transport ensuring vehicles are routed in the most economical routes but also ensuring customer requirements are met.

Arranging collections/deliveries with other depots or 3rd party contractors.

Liaising with the warehouse manager ensuring freight coming in and out is prepared on time.

Overseeing the ordering of materials such as pallets, pallet wrap and other essentials are ordered in a manageable fashion.

Ensuring the management system is kept up to date and all pricing and costs are accurately inputted into the system.

Quoting and receiving of jobs via email or phone.

Authorising holiday and cover as per company guidelines.

Ensuring all staff of the transport and warehouse departments are adhering to h&s guidelines which have been put in place.

Recruiting of transport and warehouse staff as and when required.

This is a Monday to Friday role, with a rotated shift pattern for on call phone which does include every other weekend. The successful candidate will have a background in transport planning operating 7.5 Tonne up to articulated vehicles, you must have a good understanding of routing vehicles locally and nationally, ideally a background in general haulage, events, transportation and pallet network. A good understanding of drivers hours is also crucial for this role.

The ideal candidate will be committed to the role and have a degree of dedication to the business to ensure all customer requirements are met. A HGV Licence is advantageous but not essential. A degree of dedication and a proven track record of running a busy transport office in a fast paced environment and the ability to remain calm and courteous at all times is key to succeeding in this role, good working knowledge of the Microsoft.

Current Fleet size is 18 vehicles.

Location: Aldershot.

Salary of between £32,000 and £34,000pa depending on experience and qualifications + 20 Days Holiday pa, plus bank holidays, pension scheme, On Site Parking Company Logo Clothing and opportunity to grow within the company.
