Drive a variety of vehicles from a small 3.5 ton van to a class  2 hgv lorry to various locations around the country with a team of removal men. Our jobs varies from customer to customer some require a full pack service, others on require fragile pack and some pack them self’s. We load all customers affects onto the vehicle and deliver them to there new home, could be anywhere in the country. We also do storage in wooden containers which are loaded into the vehicle by forklift and off loaded and put into our warehouse. There are about 4 of us with. Forklift licences. We also have nights away sleeping in the vehicle most of the time, occasionally we get a hotel if we take a vehicle without a sleeper cab.

Deliver new furniture to customers mostly in the south in a 7.5 ton vehicle, but occasionally had to travel further. Some assembly was required for some items such as bed’s and tables. Collection of their old beds and sofa’s for disposal. Had to unwrap and take any packing away for customers. Place all items in correct positions for customers. Made sure all goods were satisfactory or any discrepancies had been reported back to  Bradbeers and customers were informed off any action that was being taken.

A and B Oil Southampton, England

 

Started with A and B as a 7.5 ton driver. Delivering new cooking oil and collecting the used cooking oil around the south coast. A and B oil’s delivery radius was approximately 80 miles from Southampton supplying to restaurants, café’s, pubs, hotels, fast food establishments. After a couple of years I was promoted to Assistant Manager for the operations department. Would cover drivers rounds for any sickness and holiday cover, but other responsibilities of looking after approximately 26 drivers and a fleet of 23 trucks. Organising the driver’s round’s, making sure they didn’t go overloaded, if they got close to there weight limit’s and had to leave used cooking oil at customers make sure we could collect as soon as possible. Customers would sometimes need an emergency delivery of new oil so would have to put on a different round that went near. Would have to assist the manager with any break downs with the vehicles, finding recovery people to bring drivers and vehicles back. All new driver’s  would have to sit a health and safety course taught by myself. Would also have to update the information. Course covered everything from lifting correctly, to tacho law’s digital and analogue. What to do in an emergency if there’s been a spillage, how to contain and clean yourself or control and wait for assistance.

 

 

 

Sheet Metal Coater.                                                                       August 1997 – February 1999

To get orders of sheets of metal, various thickness and sizes and coat in plastic. The coating machine would have to be set up for the size of the metal. Also had to check thickness of the plastic and colour. Would have to maintain basics of the machine and report any defect’s to the manager. Was taught how to drive the forklift truck to be able to get the metal down from the racking and put away for delivery. Making sure to keep other departments informed about any delays so orders could be delivered together and on time.

County Hotel – Immingham England                                                                                        Assisting the manager with staff rotas, cashing up the tills, stock takes, stock ordering and the every day smooth running of the bar. Every week the manager had there 2 day’s off leaving the running to me. A stock take was done weekly ensuring stock wasn’t going missing and to know what to order. Also cleaned the beer lines once a week along with the ice machine, all done before opening the bar or at closing time. Had to handle large amounts of money on a daily basis, making sure enough change for that day for the till’s  as well as daily banking. Passed my British Institute of Inn keepers exam (BII) which would allowed me to manage my own bar eventually.

Driving a 3.5 ton vehicle, collecting anything from food product’s  to paint brushes from various whole seller’s and returning to the warehouse on the docks. Would have to put stock away until order sheets were ready for delivery. When order sheets came in would have to pick stock load on van and deliver to ships in the docks. Deliveries took me all over the country delivering to various size’s of ships, anything from food and vegetables to mooring rope’s and mechanical bit’s. Sometimes working to deadlines so ships could make tide times.

Transporting passengers safely to there destinations, working on time scales to get customers to there destinations on time. Had contract work for the Humber Pilots, who would take ships out of the Humber estuary always making sure they never arrived late boarding the ship and making tide times. Got regular customers, and could tell if they wanted to chat or ride in silence. Always placed customers shopping in the boot while customers got comfortable in the car. Always knocked on doors if we knew the customer was elderly to assist with walking or with wheelchairs and always made sure customers were safely in the homes on a night time before pulling away.

 

 

 

Driving Entitlements

 

Car test passed 16th June 1988 .HGV Class 2 passed 11th February 2016. Have counterbalance forklift licence. Also have a digital tacko card and up to date with my CPC course.
