About the role
Due to expansion, Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for an HGV TECHNICIAN to effect/carry out service and repairs on vehicles and oversee the Health and Safety requirement of all workshop activities. The role is for a flexible 39 hours a week and is based at our fantastic IRTE accredited site at Shotts in Scotland.
What you’ll be doing

You will ensure the highest standard and quality of workmanship on all maintenance requirements and, as necessary and in the absence of the Workshop Supervisor/Manager, you’ll help to co-ordinate all repair and maintenance activity; • You will be ensuring the highest quality workshop/mobile service and repair on car, light, heavy and specialist commercial vehicles; • You’ll ensure completion of mandatory scheduled inspections/calibrations regarding all workshop equipment; • You’ll need to be involved in the completion of all Safety Checks Toolbox talks Risk and COSHH Assessments; • You’ll have a part to play in the effective economic operation of the department; • You will always exceed the customers’ expectations;• Above all, you’ll ensure that a safe system of work is always carried out and in line with the Company’s health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
Who we’re looking for
Knowledge, skills, and experience: • City & Guilds or equivalent qualification within the relevant field – or an ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of skill; It’s essential: • That you hold a Heavy Goods Vehicle Driving Licence; • You have winter maintenance experience; • And you are customer focused. It’s desirable: • That you are a Certificate of Professional Competence holder; • That you have specialist vehicle knowledge.
